Inspection of cooling silo
For one of our customers in Gent we used the V-frame in a tank with a diameter of 20 meters. This large tank is in use for the storage of 20,000 liters of soda. It was due for an inspection.
Duration
We needed two days for the complete process. Starting by setting up the rigging and building up the V-frame, then providing the inspection company access to perform the inspection of the dryer and providing access to the welder to repair some small defects. Finally the V-frame was taken down and put back into our company van. Resulting in a shut-down of only 2 days.
Inspection method
After the cleaning protocol (SIB), the inside of the dryer was sprayed with penetrable fluid. With the use of UV-light it’s possible to detect small irregularities. Hanging from one side of the V-frame it’s possible for the inspector to make a 360 degree turn in the tank. With the use of an ActSafe to move up and down it’s possible to spray the entire dryer and check it afterwards with an UV-torch.
Abnormalities are documented and marked by the inspection team so it will be easy for the welder to repair or additional cleaning can be pursued afterwards.
